Planned Bexley Village road works
"The Council, Southern Gas Networks and BT have been working together to reduce the impact of planned road works in Bexley Village, which are due to start next week.
Works to install a vital new gas connection to the Post Office will take place from 8–15 January, at the same time as the installation of a new superfast broadband BT cabinet and carriageway improvement works. Doing all three simultaneously will cut the time taken by half. A one-way system will be in place in Bexley Village for a week. Bourne Road will remain open to southbound traffic between the Post Office building and the roundabout, while northbound traffic to Bexleyheath will be diverted through Bexley High Street, Parkhill Road and Thanet Road. Advance warning signs are in place.
Cabinet Member for Traffic and Transport, Cllr Alex Sawyer said; “We know that road works are a pain for everyone and we try and work with the utilities to minimise disruption to residents and road users whenever we can. It is never easy to deal with, but I hope that by letting residents, businesses and visitors know of possible disruption in advance they can plan their journey in good time.”
