Appeal after aggravated gold burglary at east London home (16 Nov 2017) "Detectives from the Met’s East Area Command are investigating an aggravated burglary where a large amount of jewellery was stolen by four men. Police were called at approximately 21:30hrs on Sunday, 12 November to reports of a burglary at an address on Roding Lane South, Ilford. The four suspects broke into the address and demanded jewellery. When the victim, aged in his 60s, refused, one of the men struck him over the head with a metal bar, causing serious facial injuries. Gold jewellery worth around £30,000 was stolen. The victim was treated by London Ambulance Service and taken to an east London hospital. He was later discharged. The four suspects are described as white men. Police are releasing photographs of some of the jewellery taken, and appealing for anyone who recognises it to contact police.
