Jagtar Singh Johal protest meeting at Slough's Ramgarhia educational and cultural centre (16 Nov 2017) "A PROTEST meeting in support of a Sikh man believed to have been arrested and tortured in India is set to be held tonight, Thursday. Slough’s Sikh community says it is concerned for the welfare of Jagtar Singh Johal, 30, who has been detained in the state of Punjab since November 4. The Sikh Federation UK said no official charges had been brought but local media reported Mr Johal’s arrest was linked to the killing of Hindu leaders in Punjab. The meeting is at 7pm at the Ramgarhia educational and cultural centre in Woodlands Avenue, Slough, and Slough MP, Tan Dhesi, had been invited. The Gurdwara has launched the campaign #FreeJaggiNow to help Mr Johal, who is from Dumbarton, Scotland. Mr Johal, who was in the country following his marriage in October, told lawyers he was tortured with “body separation techniques and electrocution”. He is understood to have denied the claims against him. Mr Dhesi wrote to the foreign secretary, Boris Johnson and the Indian High Commissioner in London on Sunday. He has asked Mr Johnson to further investigate what has happened." www.sloughobserver.co.uk/news/15664794.Protest_in_Slough_over_Sikh_man_arrested_and__tortured__in_India/
