Tesco Woolwich Extra - Parking
Visited Tesco Woolwich and noticed they have the parking validation machines (not parking meters so don't take coins). If you are in store less than 30 minutes you do not need to validate parking. Otherwise anything over that period, you not only have to spend a minimum of £5 in shopping, you then have to get a validation ticket with barcode printed on it. You then present this at the exit on the machines shown, tap to enter your car registration (ONLY LAST 3 letters of number plate), your car will appear with the clear number plate and time you entered the parking area, select yes confirmation to your car, and when prompted either enter the barcode or scan it in the machine to then get a green tick before you leave the parking. ignore if you already know this.
or validate at parkshopreg.co.uk/
parkshopreg.co.uk on their FAQ list the Tesco stores currently using them. However the website states on their FAQ "each store allows between 15 and 60 minutes free stay as advertised on signage throughout the car parks." Whereas the Woolwich one in fact states 30 minutes free. PLUS "Each store has a minimum spend ranging between £3 and £15 as advertised on signage throughout the car parks." Whereas the Woolwich one states £5 minimum spend as mentioned and evident in the pictures and signage.
You do not need to pay anything if you parked there and simply browsed, or not, for less than 30 minutes and can simply drive off, nor do you have to validate any ticket, to put in the machines. The system will pick up if you do go over (as use the APNR to record your car registration on arrival/exit). Hence, the reason you need to show you spent minimum £5 (per their t&cs), get a validation ticket as proof of custom and to scan or input the code into the machine upon leaving and within 3 hours. For further clarification you can check with Tesco Stores Customer Service Team on the freephone number on 0800 50 5555.
